The R&D Manager (Protective & Coating) will lead research and development initiatives, focusing on the formulation, testing, and innovation of protective coatings
Client Details
The client is a leading paint manufacturer, specializing in protective and marine coating.
Description
1. Research & Product Development
- Develop and optimize protective coating formulations for industrial, automotive, marine, and other applications.
- Lead R&D projects from concept to commercialization, ensuring timely delivery.
- Conduct material research to enhance product performance, durability, and environmental compliance.
- Evaluate and implement sustainable and eco-friendly coating technologies.
2. Testing & Quality Assurance
- Oversee laboratory testing for adhesion, corrosion resistance, weatherability, and other key properties.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (ASTM, ISO, REACH, RoHS, etc.).
- Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to ensure consistent product quality.
3. Innovation & Process Improvement
- Identify and integrate new raw materials, technologies, and process improvements.
- Work closely with suppliers and research institutions to stay ahead of industry trends.
- Implement Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to improve R&D efficiency.
4. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work with Sales & Marketing to understand customer needs and translate them into innovative products.
- Support Manufacturing in scaling up formulations for production.
- Provide technical support to customers and troubleshoot application issues.
Profile
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related field.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in protective coatings, paint, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of polymer chemistry, resin technologies, and surface coatings.
- Experience with formulation, rheology control, and pigment dispersion.
- Familiarity with industry standards (ASTM, ISO, NACE, SSPC, etc.).
