Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the examination and treatment of animals
- Restrain animals during examinations and procedures.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments.
- Monitor and report on the health status of animals.
- Maintain accurate records of animal health, treatments, and medications.
- Order and manage inventory of veterinary supplies and medications.
- Assist in feeding, watering, and general care of farm animals.
- Help with the maintenance and cleaning of animal housing and farm facilities.
- Ensure compliance with biosecurity and animal welfare regulations.
- Communicate with farm owners and staff regarding animal health and treatment plans.
- Provide education and advice on animal care and preventive health measures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine. Completion of a veterinary assistant certification program is preferred.
- Coursework or training in animal husbandry, reproductive health, or a related field is beneficial.
- Prior experience working with farm animals, particularly in a veterinary or breeding setting, is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with veterinarians, farm staff, and customers.
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
